Company Overview
The Rifle Police Department is looking for candidates capable of communicating
effectively with citizens and nurturing the positive relationships and rapport we have
with the community.
Here in Rifle our citizens and our City Council are very supportive of the Police
Department.
Our team is a department of 20 sworn officers, 2 of which are canine units, 2
Community Services officers, and 3 talented civilians. There are opportunities for
special assignments to the Detective Division and School Resource Officer. We rotate
Detective and School Resource Officer positions every 4 years and you will be able to
compete for these assignments after 3 years of service. Unlike many small departments,
the Rifle Police Department does not have a flat structure. Promotional opportunities
consist of Corporal and Sergeant. We currently have 4 Corporals and 4 Sergeants.
The City of Rifle has an excellent benefit package and generous retirement plans.
We have many outdoor recreational opportunities in our region. The Colorado River
runs through our town and is accessible for rafting, kayaking and fishing. We have
world renowned rock climbing at Rifle Mountain Park, miles of mountain bike trails,
and some of the best hunting opportunities in our nation. Rifle located just off of I-70,
provides convenient access to many other recreational and cultural experiences within
