- Telecommunications Manager
Description
The Telecommunications Manager is responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating all operations of the Police Communications Center. This position serves as a liaison, advisor, project manager, and technical subject-matter expert on communication systems and technology within the Police Department. The role supervises the daily duties and assignments of city personnel assigned to the Police Department and coordinates closely with other law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and interoperability.
The ideal candidate will have at least four years of supervisory experience in a Public Safety Communications Center, along with a minimum of five years of experience in a related field. They should have at least one year of experience as a telecommunications trainer, with demonstrated responsibility in policy and procedure development, technical development, and budget management. Project management experience in a similar work environment is preferred. A bachelor’s degree and an Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Terminal Operator Certificate Level A are ideal. Additionally, experience in public safety technology administration and development related to CAD, 9-1-1, radio systems, and other related systems is highly desirable. Lastly, the ideal candidate will possess a calm demeanor and be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Requirements
- Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum five years of experience in a related field.
- Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid Driver’s License, Arizona Criminal Justice Information System Terminal Work requires the ability to read local, state, and federal laws; statutes and codes; operating manuals; ACJIS manuals and guidelines; and various policies, rules, and regulations.
