This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days per week onsite in our Bath office, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining 2 days.
Primary Responsibilities
- Verify the proper implementation of design and engineering changes aboard ship.
- Collaborate with the SSBA Quality Department to identify and document incomplete changes prior to Navy compartment acceptance.
- Review and evaluate engineering and design changes for accuracy and applicability to specific hulls.
- Participate in shipboard inspections, including shock inspections, and document as-built discrepancies in a government-controlled database.
- Report inspection findings and configuration discrepancies to PMS 400D and SOSB leadership.
- Support the development of Trial Cards to document incomplete or incorrect change execution.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a BA degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience in ship design, configuration management, acquisition, operations, or lifecycle sustainment.
- Hands-on ship construction experience, including familiarity with shipboard installation, repair, or modification processes.
- Solid understanding of ship design drawings, engineering documentation, and technical specifications.
- Proven ability to inspect, verify, and document engineering changes accurately and efficiently.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance; having an active Secret clearance is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of ship construction processes, trades, and shipyard operations.
- Experience participating in shock inspections, sea trials, or shipboard verifications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, quality departments, and government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in ship construction or maintenance environments.
Why Join Leidos Gibbs & Cox
At Leidos, you’ll join a team that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth. At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"-we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.”
If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2... good. You’ll fit right in.
