PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
At this time, the Bloomington Police Department is seeking lateral police officer candidates; however, all interested and qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. The City of Bloomington is seeking qualified individuals to perform law enforcement duties in alignment with the Bloomington Police Department’s guiding principles:

Conducts routine patrol activities within assigned areas of the City
Responds to identified problems and to situations that may be perceived as problems by members of the community, whether criminal or non-criminal
Provides for the safe and convenient flow of traffic and pedestrians within the community
Conducts criminal and non-criminal investigative activities
Prepares written reports, forms, memorandums and other documents as required
Presents evidence in legal proceedings
Provides support and assistance to other peace officers; local, state or federal; personnel of the criminal justice system and employees of other communities and agencies
Provides for persons held in custody
Utilizes automated systems
Maintains public order within the community
Provides emergency services
Performs law enforcement services in extraordinary situations
Operates motor vehicles safely under various conditions and circumstances
Performs other duties as apparent and assigned
