Description
The Town of Hinesburg, Vermont, a Champlain Valley community of 4,698, with a Council-Manager form of government, seeks a Police Chief who is experienced, community oriented and has a demonstrated record of ethical policing and leadership. The Hinesburg Police Department consists of a Chief, Sergeant and three officers who are professional, approachable and compassionate. This is a unique opportunity to serve a vibrant and engaged community which is also a great place to live, work and play.

Responsibilities
- Overseeing daily operations and ensuring compliance with
laws and regulations. - Leading strategic planning, staffing, budgeting, training, and
policy development. - Promoting a respectful and professional culture, and
mentoring staff. - Strengthening community trust through visibility,
communication, and engagement. - Collaborating with town officials, neighboring municipalities,
and public safety partners. 
Qualifications
- VT Criminal Justice Training Council certified full-time law
enforcement officer (or ability to obtain certification within six
months). - Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, police administration,
or related field preferred. - Ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement
experience, including supervisory leadership. - Strong knowledge of contemporary policing methods,
community engagement, and modern training practices. - Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be
considered.
